Join Travis Pantaleo of Cooks Creek Watershed Association for an engaging virtual exploration of what lies beneath the Delaware River on July 23rd at 7:30 PM via Zoom.
This captivating lecture will take you on a journey through diverse aquatic habitats, revealing how water temperature shapes the fish communities that call these waters home.
Discover the remarkable species thriving in the Lower Delaware River—from the iconic striped bass and ancient, armor-plated sturgeon to the mysterious American eels that migrate thousands of miles. You'll also learn about invasive newcomers like the formidable snakehead and explore the remarkable diversity of game fish found throughout the system, as well as the vital minnow populations that support these predatory species through complex food webs.
Whether you're an angler, nature enthusiast, or simply curious about our local aquatic ecosystems, this presentation promises to deepen your appreciation for the incredible diversity swimming beneath the surface of our region's most important waterway.
Presenter Bio:
Travis Pantaleo moved to Bucks County in March 2023. A native of New Jersey, he lives with his wife, Katie, and their two daughters, Hadley and Marlowe.
Over the course of nearly two decades of occupation-related moves, Travis has had the opportunity to explore and learn about fisheries in the Pacific Northwest, New England, and even Italy. This has allowed him to volunteer with county conservation districts, non-profits, and several chapters of Trout Unlimited. He is currently the Vice President of the Cooks Creek Watershed Association and Media Officer for the Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley.
Travis holds multiple graduate degrees, as well as a graduate certificate in Fisheries Management from Oregon State University. His research focuses mostly on salmonids, with specification in social media as a proxy in catch-and-release angling. When not working, he can be found in nearby streams looking for trout, minnows, and a variety of macroinvertebrates.
