Lichen Biodiversity in the Delaware Valley, Presented by Dennis Waters

Join us on November 14th at 7:30 PM via Zoom for “Lichen Biodiversity in the Delaware Valley,” presented by Dennis P. Waters. Recent field surveys have discovered hundreds of lichen species in Mercer, Bucks, and Hunterdon Counties, including species new to science and many records previously unreported in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This talk will review the latest research in the Delaware Valley and introduce you to the fascinating mysteries of these amazing and important organisms.

Presenter Bio:

Dennis P Waters is a scientist, author, and retired internet entrepreneur who has been studying the lichen flora of the mid-Atlantic region for fifteen years. He is currently a visiting scientist at Rutgers University. His book Behavior & Culture in One Dimension: Sequences, Affordances, and the Evolution of Complexity was published by Routledge in 2022. For twelve years he served as Township Historian in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. His PhD is from the Watson School of Engineering at Binghamton University.
